Dune is currently conducting clinical trials with the MarginProbe, its intraoperative tissue characterization system for breast surgeons. The MarginProbe sensor is embedded at the tip of a hand-held disposable probe, which is attached to a console. The MarginProbe is designed to provide surgeons with a simple, real-time, audible and visual indication of the tissue's malignancy status, that is, cancerous vs. normal. The system does not require any contrast agents or help from a radiologist or a pathologist. Each measurement performed by the MarginProbe scans a coin-shaped volume of tissue- 7mm wide and 1mm deep. Each MarginProbe system has two components: a hand piece (the probe) and an external console.
