Today among the top 100 medtech companies worldwide there are 0 female CEOs. Additionally, women account for only 4% of the healthcare CEO population and 12% of healthcare industry board directors.
Medtech Women@SEMDA is a group dedicated to enhancing opportunities for women in the medtech industry. Once a year, the organization, represented by an impressive group of women from medical technology companies, medicine, and academia, meets to network and empower women in the industry. The goal: to see more women positioned for executive leadership in the medical device industry and involved in the entrepreneurial process.
Although at Dune, we know and experience daily the value in having women in senior management and executive roles, there are still advancements to be made. That is exactly why we are more than excited to attend the 2nd annual MW@S conference on September 12th in Atlanta, GA.
Our CEO, Lori Chmura, has been excitingly involved with this organization rallying female medtech industry leaders, knowing that to change the dynamics in the industry, we need all to be part of the effort. During this year’s edition, Lori will be a part of the panel “Raising Capital.” This panel will offer insights and advice for raising capital as a female founder. Lori, who recently led Dune through a funding round that secured $12.3M to help further the development of our RF Spectroscopy technology to detect microscopic residual cancer, has held roles of increasing responsibility for building and growing businesses at Medtronic, Covidien, and J&J in a medtech career spanning more than 30 years.
Are you attending MW@S? Let’s connect! You can hear Lori’s insights on raising capital as a female CEO during the aforementioned session. See the full conference agenda here.
