The Atlanta Business Chronicle has named Dilon Device’s Lori Chmura as a finalist for Health Care Innovator/Researcher in their 2018 Health Care Heroes Awards. These awards aim to highlight the individuals and companies that are dedicated to improving the overall health and well-being of the community. This is the publication’s 21st year holding the Health Care Heroes Awards.
The awards include five categories – Lifetime Achievement, Physician/Physician Group, Health Care Researcher/Innovator, Allied Health Professional and Rising Star. All of the finalists for the 2018 Health Care Heroes Awards were recognized in the May 18-24, 2018 issue of The Atlantic Business Chronicle. Chmura was spotlighted for her experience in and contribution to the health care system as an intensive care unit and emergency room nurse and for her leadership as CEO of Dilon Devices as well.
Dune’s first commercial device, MarginProbe, helps surgeons identify residual cancer ‘on the margins’ during a lumpectomy procedure to reduce positive margins and the risk of requiring a second surgery also known as a re-excision. MarginProbe has been shown to reduce these second surgeries by 50 – 79 percent. This gives the physician and patient greater confidence that they successfully removed all the cancer in the first surgery.
These awards are highly competitive, and we are honored to have been recognized amongst such esteemed company in the robust Atlanta health care community. We would like to congratulate the other finalists in our category, Dr. Lakshmanan Krishnamurti of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta; as well as Dr. Raul Nogueira of the Grady Health System.
“Atlanta’s high concentration of world-class health care providers, engineers and medtech infrastructure will support MarginProbe’s march to standard of care status for breast cancer lumpectomy patients,” said Chmura. “We remain committed to developing innovative products that will help physicians improve the quality of health care they deliver to their patients.”
Thank you to The Atlanta Business Chronicle. We are honored to be a finalist in the 2018 Health Care Heroes program!
